Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do you only write orchestral works or will you write for synthesizers and electro-acoustic instruments as well?

No, whilst the majority of my work is now orchestral, I have written pop songs and electro-acoustic instrumental works as well as synthesizer soundscapes. I have my own set of virtual electro-acoustic instruments as well as numerous synthesizers so I can produce this sort of work without having to resort to the costs of session players and recording studios - at least for the first draft. If budgets permit of course, the first draft can be taken taken to live musicians.

2. Do you need to be involved early in the production process?

No, I can work off the locked picture when it is available, together with discussions with the director. It is of course beneficial to be involved in a production as soon as possible.

3. Do you only work on productions in your part of the world?

Not at all, I work over the Internet by exchanging video and sound files, together with emails and chat sessions. For final renderings and verifications I sometimes need to resort to snail mail for the huge files. Of course face to face working is far more satisfying but I have done quite a proportion of my work for production teams who operate the other side of the World.

4. Do you need cue sheets?

No, all I need is a locked picture and access to the director. If cue sheets are provided then so much the better.

5. Do you have a preferred genre or style?

No, I like to think I can turn my hand to most styles and I like the opportunity to apply myself to as many genres and styles as possible.
